About Carried Away Quartet
Formed in October 2019, Carried Away Quartet is a group of four friends with a love for a cappella singing and ringing those barbershop chords. Their cumulative barbershop musical experience spans over 70 years. With their repertoire of jazz, rock, crooner and traditional tunes, you’re guaranteed to get Carried Away!
Meg Lynch, tenor
Meg’s exposure to the barbershop world started in high school when she joined the Coastline Show Chorus with her BFF. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s of Performing Arts degree in 2018 from the University of Connecticut where she concentrated in classical voice. She maintains her connection with the University as the musical director for several student stage productions and hopes to continue her studies and receive a master's in vocal pedagogy. In her free time, Meg loves crafts, D&D, and squeezing her perfect cat Chicken Noodle Soup. She lives in Tolland, CT.
Stephanie Goddard, lead
Steph has been a singer all her life, crooning along with the Partridge Family and The Carpenters at an early age. In 2001, she decided it was time to take her life’s passion to the next level and joined the Coastline Show Chorus. Since driving kids to musical theatre rehearsals, working and chorus were not enough of a challenge, she started a small a cappella group with her bestie, Karen. The rest, as they say, is history. She lives with her husband Brian and daughters Molly and Gracie in Woburn, MA. She loves sharks, her puppy Brody, reality TV, spending time with her family and singing anywhere with Carried Away. In her spare time, she moonlights as a Deployment Lead at IBM.
Karen Nadeau, baritone
In 2001, Karen was missing the fun she had singing with the Radcliffe Choral Society while in college. She answered an ad in the paper for the Merrimack Valley Chorus, and was soon singing tags, ringing chords and making friends. A few years later, she joined the Coastline Show Chorus in Rhode Island, making new friends and becoming the baritone section leader, visual coordinator and music team member. In 2007, Karen figured out how to spend even MORE time out of the house by forming a quartet, and has been quarteting ever since. Karen lives in Hampstead, NH with her husband Bud and her cat Benjie.
Patti Newman, bass
Having a life-long love for harmony, Patti began her barbershop career with the Liberty Belle Chorus (now Boston Skyline) in 1989 as a baritone, serving as section leader, and member of the vocal and physical warm-up teams. She has been in several quartets, including the 2014 regional champs Full Throttle, and most recently 2018 4th place Accidental Charm. After 30 years as a baritone, Patti found herself drawn to the darker side of harmony as bass for Carried Away. She is also a member of the Merrimack Valley A Cappella Chorus since 2016 where she sings baritone. She lives in Lowell, MA with her son Sean, dog Maggie, and cats Sally, Lucy, and Robin.
